RESILIENCE A Key Trait for the home business owner

Resilience: A key Trait for  The Home Business Owner

Do you want to know the most important characteristic you will need to succeed as a Home Business owner?, its one word- Resilience.

Have you been following my posts? I hope you have been getting the inspiration required to make your first move if you want to read the second post, its here.

Today I will be talking about resilience a key trait for a mompreneur, if you are keen on running a home business, you have to be determined to make it happen and not let circumstances deter you. Resilience as defined by psychologytoday “is that ineffable quality that allows some people to be knocked down by life and come back stronger than ever, rather than letting failure overcome them and drain their resolve, they find a way to rise from the ashes”.

This is a basic quality which any woman who seeks to run a home business must possess, because the bad days will come especially in the early days of bootstrapping a business, when the dollars are few and you need every cent you get to invest in your business, sometimes you may have challenges that may make you want to quit or give up, but if you will keep at it, it will start yielding results that are valuable.

One key trait is all you need to succeed in business- Resilience

One of the lessons I learned in running my business was to count the glory’s; that is to celebrate every good thing that happened no matter how small it was, this helped me to manage the bad times. In my training business, there were times that I thought I would get a certain number of people but I never got them, I paid no attention to the fact that I was running that particular training at a loss, but I  trained the class size I got like they were the biggest class ever. Guess what? when those people went away from my class, they had a lot of good reports to give about the training that paid off down the line.

A home business has its own different set of challenges, but your determination and passion are what will drive you to your success.

No matter what type of home business you want to start, you will need a lot of tenacity to not let go until it begins to yield fruit. There will be obstacles that will be in your way, for example, self-doubt, sometimes you may be your own biggest critic, you keep looking at what you are doing asking yourself if you have what it takes to succeed, but you know what? you don’t have to worry about that, it is said that the taste of the pudding is in the eating, it means that if you never start you can’t tell how successful you will be.

The most important advice I give to anyone who peaches her idea to me but doubts whether it will work is to try it out on a small scale, you can keep getting better as you move on, but if you never take that first step you may never know. I believe in beginning from where you are to where you want to be. When you start with the basics, you learn your ropes with less costly mistakes than when you start big.

A resilient person will keep on working on the idea before you start seeing results, a resilient person will bounce back no matter what kind of downtime the person has suffers.

Becoming a Mom has resilience built in within it, trust me it takes resilience for you to carry a baby for nine months, birth it and still strive to get back to your pre-baby body, we see women of all shapes and sizes do it again and again. There may be those who will not get back to their pre-baby body but it won’t be for lack of trying.

When we work consistently on our set goal, we are sure to achieve meaningful results. It’s the same determination we should put forth in making our dream business a reality.

If you are a stay at home mom that sincerely desires to start a business but have doubted your ability to start one and run with it, know that you have that inbuilt toughness known as resilience to withstand the rigors of a home business, so go get it. Today is the day to make that move.
