5 Ways to celebrate Thanksgiving in a Pandemic

Thanksgiving is around the corner and a lot of people are still wondering how to celebrate thanksgiving in a pandemic.

Should they have traditional gatherings or should they just celebrate with their families alone?

The year 2020 has been a very remarkable year, it is one of those years that you want it to pass on quickly.

It has been a year of tumultuous changes in both the health sector and in the political terrain.

No one would have envisaged what 2020 would look like.

20 years ago, there were so many goals tagged to this year, it was supposed to be positive but when we got here, we received a rude shock

So how do we celebrate thanksgiving in a pandemic?

In this article, I will share with you 5 ways that you can celebrate Thanksgiving in a pandemic and still feel happy.

5 ways to celebrate thanksgiving in a pandemic

Recognize that it will be different

The greatest worry for most people is that they will not be able to gather together as a family to celebrate this year.

While this is painful, you must recognize that this year has been different and thanksgiving will not be different.

It is like sowing corn seed and expecting to reap beans, it will not be.

Getting yourself all riled up will not help you.

Schooling changed this year, working changed this year, shopping changed a lot this year, why would thanksgiving be the same?

The spirit of thanksgiving is what matters

When you look at thanksgiving is it just about gorging up on food or about being thankful.

Thanksgiving is about being thankful and also sharing so recognize that the spirit of thanksgiving remains even if there are no large gatherings like you want.

You can be thankful alone , after all the Bible says

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Ephesians 5:16

Keep the spirit of Thanksgiving and do away with the need to be in a large group with other people.

Use Technology

It is true that you may not be in the same physical space but you can connect with technology in your home.

Connect with other family members via Zoom or Google meet.

You can use your TV set to set up a viewing panel that everyone can have access to.

This will help you to be in touch with your family while you celebrate, who knows you can even play games online.

The kids will surely love this one as they can get to enjoy playing with their cousins and relatives.

Have fun even if you are alone

If you are wondering how to celebrate thanksgiving in a pandemic and you are alone without family.

Use the technology to connect and have fun but most importantly learn to have fun alone.

I love alone times, you can watch a movie, relax in a hot tub, or even set up an online portal with a fellow friend and share in their food preparation.

I will personally set up a TV in the kitchen and let other family members see the Thanksgiving chaos, it will be worth keeping the memories for later on.

Share with those who do not have.

So you have excess meals you have cooked for this season, donate to food banks.

Remember there will be people depending on soup kitchens this season to eat.

Instead of sulking that you cannot gather as a family, use the excess you have to be of help to others who are in need.

You willl find that you will feel much better doing a good need.

You might be surprised that they will be your family this season. Giving even when you don’t have much has an effect that you cannot explain.

Now that I have shared my tips with you, you may be asking what am I thankful for in this season of Pandemic?

What Iam thankful for in 2020

I am thankful for the following reasons

Excellent health

Yes, this has become a top priority in a year that many people died. I am thankful that in this whole year, I was not seriously ill and I was marked COVID19 safe.

My Business

When I started thehomebusinessowner Blog, having a home business or working from home looked like a lazy way out of the workforce. In fact, if you use the word, work at home business or work from home, Facebook will not accept your Ad.

Today what looked alien is now the new normal, I am thankful that God led me this way, 3 years ago.

I started working from home and got used to it before the pandemic hit so I was not really fazed by working from home.

My business also brought in a good return this year, despite all that happened.

I am grateful and thankful that I had a business that I could not get sacked from. Some lost their jobs this year.

Courses

This year I created 4 courses and launched one.

I am so surprised at how fast I have gone from creating a mini-course in a whole year to creating 4 courses.

These courses I believe are what led to the project Iam currently handling for Hellablack.com

I am thankful that I was able to do that

My Spiritual life

My spiritual life went up a notch this year as I had a leading to start a women’s prayer group online.

We pray Saturday nights on Whatsapp, I have women from diffrent countries in the world praying with me.

I tell you, God has visited us amazingly, we have seen his word fulfilled in our lives and we are grateful.

If you want to join our women’s prayer group, send me an email: elizabeth@thehomebusinessowner.com, and I will add you to the Whatsapp group

You see I love praying because in the place of prayer I see where God is taking me to and it enables me to ensure that I follow through with what he is telling me to do.

I know that one day we will be having a conference of Christian Women Prayer Group where we will be sharing how God has been our help.

Those prayers helped to keep me when the world was going crazy.
